North Conway is the home of Cranmore Mountain, which is located in the center of the resort area. It is an excellent beginner and intermediate ski slope. In the summer, Cranmore becomes an adventure park featuring a ropes course, mountain coaster and much more. Atittash, a larger ski area with beginner to expert terrain, in located in Bartlett. Attitash also has summer activities including an alpine slide and lift-serviced mountain biking. Wildcat, located directly across from Mount Washington, is located in the National Forest just north of Jackson. Terrain varies from beginner to expert, and the mountain is a locals’ favorite. In the summer, take the chairlift to the top to enjoy the view or try the zipline!
One of the things that makes North Conway and the Mount Washington Valley unique is that it is surrounded on 3 sides by the White Mountain National Forest. That means that there is an almost-endless number of hikes in the North Conway area. Black Cap is a great beginner hike with panoramic views that is easily accessed from North Conway. For intermediates, we recommend Mt Willard, which is located in Crawford Notch. For advanced hikers, Mt Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. If you go, make sure you check the weather. Conditions can vary dramatically from start to summit!
3) Saco River:
Canoeing, tubing or kayaking the Saco is a favorite summer activity of visitors and locals alike. Who can think of a better way to relax and enjoy a summer day than to float down the river, stopping for picnicking and a swim? Contact a local canoe company to rent a boat and be dropped off and picked up down river.
North Conway is home to some serious shopping. From high end outlets like Michael Kors to outdoor gear like REI, to unique local boutiques like the Penguin, the shopping alone is enough of a reason to come to North Conway.
5) Fall foliage:
Nature puts on an incredible show in North Conway each Fall. Enjoy vibrant reds, golden yellows and perfect Autumn oranges across mountain vistas throughout the North Conway area. Best places to see foliage: the Kancamagus Highway, the Intervale Scenic Vista, Pinkham Notch or Crawford Notch.
6) Covered Bridges:
There are currently 55 covered bridges in the state of New Hampshire, and many of them are in Mount Washington Valley. See a little history and enjoy a scenic drive by mapping a course and checking out the Bartlett Covered Bridge, the covered bridge at the Wentworth in Jackson, the Albany Covered Bridge or the Conway Covered Bridge.

8) Conway Scenic Railroad:
Enjoy a view of the Valley and an old fashioned rail-roading experience when you take a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad. With several routes, dining options and special events, taking a ride on the train is an essential North Conway experience.
9) Mount Washington:
Visit the Northeast’s highest peak and experience the world’s worst weather. Take a guided trip, drive yourself up the Auto Road, reach the summit on the Cog Railway, hike, bike or even run. But definitely check it out during your visit to North Conway!
