North Conway has some of the best skiing in New Hampshire. Whether you’re a beginner, a solid skiier, or an expert, there are plenty of options to choose from within a short drive. Here is what you need to know when deciding between the North Conway ski mountains!
Cranmore is by far the most easily accessible ski mountain in North Conway. Just a five-minute drive from downtown, Cranmore is a perfect family mountain. It has a bunny slope for true beginners. It also has a long, winding trail called Easy Street which provides plenty of time to practice. There is a high-speed quad that leads to steeper options at the top, and a terrain park too! For anyone who prefers to tube, Cranmore offers that as well. Top it off with a visit to one of the many great North Conway restaurants and bars nearby! Horsefeathers, Delaneys, and more are right back in downtown North Conway. The mountain offers savings on multi-day passes and 4-hour tickets.
Attitash is actually two peaks in one – the main mountain, and Bear Peak right next to it. You can ski between the two all day long, hitting the terrain park and the glades along with the extensive trail network. Attitash is in Bartlett, about 20 minutes North of North Conway, so it is still very much within reach during a North Conway vacation. Attitash offers multi-day passes as well as PM tickets. You won’t get any closer than a trailside condo for your visit!
Wildcat offers some of the longest trails in the Valley, some of the best skiing in New Hampshire, and it takes the cake for beautiful views from the top. Located in Pinkham Notch, you have a direct view to Mt. Washington and the Presidentials directly across the street! The snow-making operation at Wildcat is top-notch, meaning the season is longer than most resorts in the area, and that the conditions tend to be consistent. It also features the longest beginner trail in New Hampshire, along with plenty of intermediate and expert terrain. The mountain is near Jackson, NH, which has great dining opportunities such as a Shannon Door and the Wildcat Inn and Tavern.
Bretton Woods is an excellent option for Intermediate skiing in New Hampshire and for families. It is around 30 minutes north of North Conway, so it’s a great choice if you’re planning on a full day of skiing with the family. As New Hampshire’s largest ski area, it features plenty of variety to keep you entertained. Bretton Woods was awarded Best Grooming in the East according to Ski Magazine! Night skiing is also offered for those who want to stay late!
This mountain, located in Freedom, NH, is quite a bit smaller than the others on this list. It’s a great slope for a group that’s looking for something a bit less intimidating than the others. It does have its share of steep trails to choose from, but it’s a great starter mountain for kids due to the short length of the runs. It’s also off the beaten track, so the crowds tend to be smaller. King Pine is a great alternative to the larger resorts.
