The North Conway area is famous for the multiple world-class ski mountains surrounding us. In this week’s Peak Profile, we explore Attitash Mountain Resort. Here are 5 reasons to experience all that Attitash has to offer this winter!
Two Mountains in One!
Attitash Mountain is a combination of two connected mountains for your riding enjoyment. Attitash and Bear Peak offer a combined 68 trails, 11 lifts, and 3 terrain parks. Opened in 1965, Attitash has been steadily expanding, including the acquisition of Bear Peak in the 1990’s. It is now consistently ranked among the best ski mountains in the country.
If you want to experience more than just downhill skiing, Attitash has options for you! Both Attitash and Bear Peak offer a combined 60+ acres of tree skiing. Tree skiing is when you leave the groomed trails and ski among the trees, but remember that it can be very dangerous and you should only stick to the marked glade trails. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something more adventurous, give the terrain parks a go! The Mythmaker, Kachina, and Bear Bottom parks offer rails, jumps, and more for all ability levels.
Food and More
There are a ton of options to satisfy your hunger after a long day on the slopes at Attitash. Grab some traditional American fare at the Attitash Cafeteria, or a margarita and burrito from the Cantina. If live music and a brew after your busy day sounds ideal, try Ptarmigan’s Pub. For a sweet treat that the whole family can enjoy, Frostbites is the place to be!
Attitash After Dark
The day doesn’t end at Attitash when the sun goes down! Stick around to enjoy some of the apres ski entertainment, from live music to fireworks! From December 30th through March 21st, Attitash will feature performances by some of Boston’s best cover bands from Foreigner to U2 (these concerts are for those ages 21+). Click here for more information. Fireworks for the whole family will be visible from the Main Base area. Finish the night in front of the fire in your dream vacation home , available from Pinkham Vacation Rentals!
The fun doesn’t stop when the snow melts. Attitash is home to North America’s longest Alpine Slide and the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster. If you want to get a bird’s eye view of the White Mountains, take a ride down the Attitash ZipTour, the longest single-span zipline east of the Rocky Mountains! If you’re in the area peeping at the fall foliage you can’t miss the famous Oktoberfest at Bear Peak.
