The largest ski area in New Hampshire, Bretton Woods, is one of the top-rated ski resorts in the world! From Alpine and Nordic skiing to snowmobiling and zip lines there are plenty of activities to keep the fun going for days. Here are our top five reasons to plan a trip to Bretton Woods today!

Skiing

Bretton Woods boasts over 464 acres of trails and glades for skiers and snowboarders. Try your hand at the 63 trails and 35 glades, all accessed by the 10 lifts (including the new 8-passenger gondola. Night skiing is also offered on select nights for those who prefer to shred at night. If you prefer Nordic (cross country) skiing, then the Bretton Woods Nordic Center, and it’s 100 km trail network, is the place for you. Private and group lessons are offered for those who want to learn to ski or ride, or just need a quick refresher, as are equipment rentals. Click here to view a trail map.

Guided Programs

Craving an outdoor adventure, but not quite sure where to begin? Let the guided programs at Bretton Woods help you out. Learn the basics of back country skiing with an expert, or if you already know a few things you can explore the White Mountain back country with your guide. If skiing isn’t your speed but you still want an adventurous workout, guided snowshoeing is available, too. Want to go up instead of down the mountain? Try the guided Ice Climbing course to learn the equipment and basic ice climbing skills. Options are also available for those more familiar with the sport. If you really want to push yourself (and are in very good physical condition and are equipped), then the Mount Washington ascent is for you. An all-day excursion, the end reward is well worth the effort. Choose from private (one person), semi-private (two people), or three person options. Click here for more information.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Playing all day is sure to work up an appetite, and Bretton Woods has your back. With 4 restaurants at the ski area itself, and 5 at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel, plus others nearby, there is no shortage of options. Latitude 44° is a mid-slope restaurant, accessed by the Bethlehem Express Hi-Speed Quad lift and it offers burgers, soups, and sandwiches along with a full bar! Feeling fancy? Make a reservation at the Main Dining Room of the Omni Mount Washington Hotel for a classic night of dining and dancing to the nightly musical entertainment. The Slopeside Pub has plenty of apres ski entertainment, including live music! Click here to learn more about the dining opportunities at Bretton Woods.

Activities Galore!

Sleigh the winter blues with a horse-drawn carriage ride, private or group options are available! If you prefer an adventure with less bite, try a fat tire bike rental instead! These special bikes have extra-wide tires to maintain traction and speed on the snow. Rentals and trail passes are available at the Nordic Center. Still too much speed? Snowshoes may be exactly what you’re looking for. Rentals are available, as are guided snowshoe tours. Ice skating, tubing, and the slope side climbing wall round out the amazing activities offered at Bretton Woods during the winter season. Click here to check out the activities guide.

Just for Kids

Watch boredom (and your kid) fly away on the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour zip line! The zip line descends over 1,000 feet in elevation, while giving you a bird’s eye view of the surrounding beauty. The Canopy Tour is comprised of 9 zip lines, connected by suspension bridges and hikes. Tours are offered daily, and there are weight and height requirements. Click here for more information. If your little prefers to keep their feet on the ground, then take them over to the kid’s snowmobile park instead.
